Hi Everyone,
Welcome to this week's round-up. We have our usual book recommendations - this week it's The Wonder by Tom Percival for younger children and the newly released The Heart of the Storm by Teresa Heapy, also suitable for younger readers. Both books are great classroom reads during next week’s Mental Health Week.
We've also cast a spotlight on Victoria Primary Academy, which is an avid user of Pageticker. April's giveaway winner is announced, and May's giveaway is now open, so don't forget to enter for your chance to win all the books featured throughout May for your school.
A special word of mention to all Headteachers and Year 6 teachers as we approach the start of SATs for all primary schools in the UK.

Book a Demo

If you’d like to see Pageticker in action, you can book a short demo. In 20–30 minutes, we’ll walk you through how teachers track reading at home and in class, how families use the free app, and what the data looks like for reading leads and SLT. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions.
Pageticker Resources

Our new Pageticker bookmarks are a simple, low-cost way to boost reading buzz in your classroom, whether or not you’re using Pageticker.
Each pack includes 35 colourful bookmarks for just £5 with free P&P, ideal for celebrating reading milestones, rewarding effort, or sending home as a reminder to read. They’ve been designed to stand alone as a fun, flexible incentive for every reader in your class or year group, while also pairing neatly with Pageticker if you choose to use it.

Handpicked Suggestion

The handpicked suggestion of the week is The Wonder by Tom Percival. This book is suitable for children of 3+ but can be enjoyed by all ages.

Daniel is having an awful day. Rain pours heavily, puddles soak his shoes, and he’s sure that nothing can cheer him up. But beneath the thundering rain, he hears a sweet thread of music. Daniel stops and listens. A great story about finding a little bit of brightness in the darkest of days.
Notable New Release

The notable release for this week is The Heart of the Storm by Teresa Heapy, illustrated by Kate Read. This is suitable for children aged 5+.

Ruby the fox and Growl the wolf can’t stand each other, but when a huge storm rips through the forest, they’re going to need each other if they’re going to survive. These sworn enemies must choose whether to remain enemies or fight side by side. This book celebrates courage, kindness and friendship.
It’s a great book for opening up conversations about friendships with a class during story time.
Pageticker Spotlight - Victoria Primary Academy

We spoke with Claire Richardson, Literacy Lead at Victoria Primary Academy, about their experience of using Pageticker. Claire told us that 'implementation had been really easy' and the 'whole school are really engaged with it'. This is borne out by the fact that 91% of children have written a book review! You can read the full case study here.
