Frequently asked questions
Only teachers with academic email addresses can trial Pageticker. To start your free 30 day trial:
- Go to https://teachers.pageticker.com/login
- Sign up with your academic email address
- Verify your email address and sign in to the teacher dashboard
- Explore the dashboard.
If after the trial you'd like to take out a subscription, follow the prompts in the teacher dashboard in order to take out a subscription for your school.
Once you have taken out your subscription - the first 30 days are free - then you will be prompted to connect to synchronise your school MIS to Pageticker using Wonde, our integration partner.
This will keep your data fully-synchronised, reorganising students at the start of a new school year and automatically adding students who have joined your school, for example.
This is the only method we allow to import student data. This is to maintain the integrity of our data, to ensure no duplicate accounts are created or data is lost.
Pageticker costs between £99 and £299 per year per school, depending on the size of your school.
At the moment, we are not planning to translate the parent app into other languages. There are some parts of the app (the naming of the icons) which we could translate. However, we would be dependent on using a translating programme.
There are others, like the data for the books that we get from other sources, which is where it becomes much trickier.
We know that some phones now have an in-built translate app too as an accessibility feature. This is something we are looking into to find out more.
Whilst Pageticker can't be used offline, parents can select an earlier date when adding a reading log. So they catch up retrospectively, if they miss a day.
If you would like to log reading as a teacher, you can do this from the Teacher Dashboard, by clicking on the book icon to log reading. This can currently only be completed on an individual basis, rather than whole class.
Yes, if you log onto the Teacher Dashboard, click on the broadcasts tab. Click to add a broadcast, type your message, select your audience - whole school or class and click on create broadcast.
On the Teacher Dashboard, under the class filters heading, there is a didn't read yesterday and has not read this week filter.
You will need to make sure that you have selected the relevant class but then you will be able to see which pupils from your class haven't read recently.
On the Teacher Dashboard, hover over the circle next to the pupil name. You will then be able to see the number of pages read by a child on a certain day.
Log onto the Teacher Dashboard and click into the date range box, using the calendar start date that you are looking for.
You will then be able to see the reading that has taken place on a 7-day rolling period from then.
For example, if I select Wednesday 20th November 2024 I will see reading until Tuesday 26th November 2024.
If you go to the Account tab then click on Staff Roles and Permissions and then click on the green Add Teacher button.
Please email support@pedalogic.com and one of the team will get back to you.
Pageticker and Accelerated Reader are both reading management tools. However, they do have different purposes and price points.
Take a look at this article to get a quick run through of differences and similarities and how they could be used alongside each other.
Pageticker complies fully with data protection laws, ensuring all student and parent data is secure. The platform is cloud-based and follows industry best practices for data security and privacy.
While both help track reading, they have different offerings. Pageticker aligns with phonics schemes and focuses on parental engagement through push notifications and chat features. It emphasises helping parents understand reading fluency, while Accelerated Reader focuses more on quizzing and comprehension of texts.
Pageticker improves outcomes by:
• Providing teachers with insights from organised data to support pupil learning
• Improving communication between parents and schools around reading
• Empowering parents with information about how to support their children
• Offering book recommendations tailored to students' specific interests and reading levels
• Allowing teachers to quickly identify students falling behind and take timely action
Wonde helps connect school MIS data to applications such as Pageticker. We only allow schools to import student accounts into Pageticker through Wonde right now. There are a number of reasons for this.
- It maintains the integrity of your data - in particular, it avoid duplicate accounts which can be a headache for us and you to join up later on down the line
- It is more secure
- It provides for a much better user experience - Wonde will import your data with just a few clicks, and it automatically synchronises each night to reflect changes made in your MIS (for example, students/arriving, leaving, or changing class.)
We always recommend connecting your school data through Wonde, even if it's just for the 30-day trial. Connecting with Wonde does not mean all students are invited to Pageticker, you can still just trial with a small group and then roll out as you see fit, and if you do not want to proceed after the trial, the connection with Wonde is severed and the data is deleted from our system.
Most schools in the UK (95%+) use Wonde to integrate their school MIS (like Arbor, SIMS or Bromcom) to applications such as Pageticker or TT Rockstars. It's free for schools, and there are many advantages to using it:
- It maintains the integrity of your data - in particular, it avoid duplicate accounts which can be a headache for us and you to join up later on down the line
- It is more secure
- It provides for a much better user experience - Wonde will import your data with just a few clicks (rather than manually entering, or uploading spreadhseets), and it automatically synchronises each night to reflect changes made in your MIS (for example, students/arriving, leaving, or changing class.)
