Hi Everyone,
As we head into summer, a stark reality lies at the heart of children’s reading: just 36.1% of children reported enjoying reading in their free time in 2026.
The good news? This time of year is full of brilliant opportunities to bring reading to life. From Pride Month and big sporting events to outdoor adventures and summer activities, there are plenty of ways to connect stories with what children are already excited about.
In this Round-up, you’ll find seasonal booklists, key dates, and simple ideas to keep reading feeling fresh, fun, and engaging all the way through the holidays.
Happy reading,
Nicola, Founder

Handpicked Suggestion

This week’s handpicked suggestion is Big Outdoors for Little Explorers Birds by Anne Kathrin-Behl. Suitable for children aged 0-5.

In this beautifully illustrated book with sliders on each page, children can learn about different birds. This includes ostriches, penguins, toucans and many more. As well as seeing the habitats they live in, helping to bring the birds to life.
There are other books in this series on different themes, from the countryside to the safari and much more.
Notable New Release

The notable new release that we’re featuring this week is The Lost Robot by Joe Todd-Stanton. This is suitable for children aged 3-7.

Mio doesn’t remember where they came from-or how long they’ve been lost - but one thing’s certain: they don’t belong here. So begins a journey to uncover forgotten memories and find the home they once knew... only to discover that home, and even Mio themself, have changed.
This book is beautifully illustrated and carries a powerful message about loving yourself and knowing there’s always a place where you belong.
