Hi Everyone,
As a parent, it isn’t always easy to fit reading into busy family life – but those small, regular moments really do add up. This week we’re sharing a ready‑to‑use flier with ten practical tips for encouraging reading at home over the holidays, plus our Sporting Heroes booklist to coincide with Wimbledon and the World Cup. We've also delved more into the Pageticker app and explained how families can use it for free. Our new book recommendations include 'The Great Green Island' (3+) and 'The House With Chicken Legs Runs Away' (9–12).
Happy reading,
Nicola, Founder

Handpicked Suggestion

Our handpicked suggestion this week is The Great Green Island by Becky Colvin. It’s suitable for children aged 3+.

Ali’s a brave, nature-loving girl. When every fish disappears, Ali sets out to discover the truth. She discovers something magical lurking in the waves, a Great Green Crocodile.
This book blends mystery, adventure and the wonder of nature. A great book about finding the magic in the world around us.
Notable New Release

Our notable new release this week is The House With Chicken Legs Runs Away by Sophie Anderson. This book is a sequel to the much-loved The House With Chicken Legs. We recommend this book for children aged 9+.

All of Marinka's life, she’s lived in her house with chicken legs running across the world on magical adventures. But, Marinka knows how her house is feeling, and something’s wrong. And before anyone can stop it, the house has pulled itself apart and run away.
Together with her friend Jack, Marinka races after it to find answers. Travelling across distant lands, through new realms and to magical places, Marinka must face up to her fears to save her friends. But her house might not want to stop running…
