2025 has been a really big year for Pageticker. So we wanted to take some time to round up and share some of the developments we've made over the year.

On the Teacher Dashboard

On the teacher dashboard, we've made lots of significant changes this year.

We've made it possible for teachers to create groups. Children can be in multiple year groups and across classes. We know that teachers have different phonic reading groups and library reading groups for example.

On the dashboard page, we now display lots of information about reading in your school. This includes reading achievements, a newsfeed that can be filtered by class and books that are trending in your school and on Pageticker too.

We've developed a book management page. Here teachers can quickly and easily see what books there are in school, like a low touch library management software. They can see who the book was last loaned to, therefore, keeping track of lost library books.

Based on feedback, we have created a scan and log feature. This means that teachers can print out or bring the QR code up on their whiteboard and children can scan this and select their name. Children can show that they are borrowing a book and have a slimmed down version of logging reading too. This can be used by TAs too.

On the class reading page, we've made it really quick and easy for teachers to see badges earned by pupils and to download certificates.

Based on feedback, we've allowed teachers to select a filter for this week and last week, as well as being able to customise their own 7 day time window.

Also, on the class reading page, we've created a running total for reading logs and pages read. This was again based on feedback from one of our schools.

We've created a referrals scheme too, where a subscribed school can refer another school. The school who has made the referral will get a £25 book token if the other school takes out a subscription and the new school will get a discount on their subscription!

On the Parent App

We've made some pretty significant changes to the parent app on Pageticker this year. Goals and targets can now be set from the parent app and progress can be tracked against these goals.

Badges can now be achieved in the app and there's a badges page, where all the badges earned can be viewed.

Children can write book reviews, and we've created a little celebration whenever they finish reading a book.

Parents can receive push notifications from teachers.

On the homepage, there's now a continue reading tile, making it quicker and easier for parents to continue logging reading.

If for any reason parents can't find a book after searching manually and with the barcode scanner they can manually upload a book by taking a photo and adding a few details. We'll then review whether to release it onto our database.

Every now and then parents might accidentally create an account that's not linked to their school account. It's now really easy to merge these accounts from within the app.

We know that it can sometimes be hard for parents to support their child with choosing a book that interests them and is age appropriate. So, we've created a book discovery section - parents can also see if the book is available in the school library!

With the book data that we display, we've enhanced this, both in terms of the adjectives and synopsis we display but also the reading history. So a parent can see how many reading sessions have been logged against a book and how many times a child has completed a book!

On the app, we now have parent blogs. These change on a fortnightly basis and are designed to support and engage parents in their child's reading.

Any parent, even without a school subscription can download the Pageticker app.

Finally, we've made lots of visual improvements to the app and made it easier for parents to use it.

If there's anything you'd love to see on Pageticker next year or that would help you with the National Year of Reading please let us know!
