Since September, we've added lots of extra features to support reading engagement on Pageticker. Here are some that you might not know about.
Announcements
Our announcements page (formerly broadcasts) has some extra features based on teacher feedback.
Announcements are where teachers can send a message to their class or whole school about reading.
Teachers can now add images and PDFs to any announcements that they send. These will pull through to the parent app.
More information about trending books
If you head to the dashboard page, you can see trending books on Pageticker and in your school.
You can now see which children have been reading those particular books in the last few weeks, to perhaps use to spark conversations in reading assemblies.
Statistics on the dashboard page
On the dashboard page, we've added some extra statistics on the last week's reading achievements. Now you can see the number of books reviewed and rated.
Previously on the parent app a star rating could be left at the end of every reading log.
Now, there's just a star rating when a book has been completed (along with some celebratory confetti) and an optional space to fill out a book review. You can also see how many reviews have been written.
Changes to the newsfeed
Also on the dashboard page, we've made changes to the newsfeed. So you can quickly and easily see badges earned, reviews written and books completed.
Date ranges on the class reading page
On the class reading page, you can change the default date range from 'this week' to 'last 7 days' if you wish to. Different schools celebrate reading in different ways, so now you can configure it to work for you.
Badge notifications
If a child has earned a badge, you will now see a little badge notification on their daily reading record circle. You can click on the circle to see the badge. From there you can generate a certificate - some milestones are more meaningful to some children than others, so it's your choice to decide to download or not.
Clickable Books
On the right hand slide of the class reading page, the current book name is clickable. You can find out extra information about the book the child is reading, hopefully prompting more conversations about reading as well as supporting teachers with learning more about children's books.
