We have just released a fantastic new feature on Pageticker, the ability for teachers to tag a book. The book tag feature, has been created based on feedback from lots of teachers across our database.
What are Book Tags?
Pageticker is a digital reading record. Pupils read books from school, the library or home and then record their reading on Pageticker.
Teachers using Pageticker, requested a way to filter by book type. To see for example, how many pages are being read from class readers, read-for-pleasure books or phonics books.
Teachers can tag:
Reading scheme books
Read-for-pleasure books
Class reader books
Phonics books
Guided reading books
Adding and Monitoring Book Tags
If you want to loan a book as a teacher, it's really quick and simple. On the pupil reading page, click on the box next to the pupil name and click on loan book. Either search manually for the book or use the barcode scanner to find the book. Then you'll be prompted to add a book tag. This will impact where the book appears in the book type filters.
As a teacher, you don't have to add a book to a child's bookshelf, you can leave this to parents. However, we know from feedback that this is something some teachers are keen to do.
Book tags are also added automatically to books when parents add a book a child's bookshelf on the parent app. Some schools will encourage parents to add books rather than teachers adding books.
