We’ve just released a really exciting new feature on Pageticker, where pupils can log their own reading at home, using their own login, if you'd like them to.
We’ve created this feature with older pupils in mind. It’ll enable them to take ownership over their own reading and to discover new and exciting books that capture their imaginations.
How does pupil login work?
Teachers can decide if they wish for pupils to have their own logins at home, or if they’d rather reading was logged by parents on the parent app.
Pupil login is entirely teacher driven. To generate usernames and passwords go to user management > manage students. From here, you can select individual pupils or the whole class and click to generate logins. Passwords can be reset from this page too. If pupils forget their passwords they’ll need to ask their class teacher for a new one.
Pupils will download the app and select that they are a child. They will use the username and password provided by the teacher and log into the app.
The main difference between the pupil login and parent app is that everything will be about the child if they use pupil login. So, I read alone, rather than Mohamed read alone for example.
Can I use pupil login in school?
We do not recommend using pupil login in school, only at home. This is because pupils can use the scan and log feature in school which makes it much quicker and easier than each child logging in individually onto a device.
At home, when a pupil selects that it’s their own device they will stay logged in. If they choose a shared device they will log in in less than 1 hour.
If parents already have Pageticker accounts how will pupil login impact this?
It won’t make a difference if parents already have an account. Parents can continue logging if they wish to and pupils can log in to their own account if they are given details by their child’s class teacher.
What age would you recommend pupil login for?
We’d recommend pupil logins for children aged eight and above. We expect that some schools might use pupil logins for logging reading at home in Year 5 or Year 6 or secondary school. Others might also encourage Year 4 pupils too. It’s completely down to the discretion of each school.
