At Pageticker we really believe in the importance of reading aloud to children. This is even when they can read independently. So, we are sharing some of our favourite books to read aloud.

1) There's An Alien in Your Book by Tom Fletcher and Greg Abbott

Recommended Age: 2-5 +

Picture book There's an Alien in Your Book

An alien has landed in the book and we need to work out if they belong on earth.

One of our team loves to read this aloud to his 2 year-old son. As it's really interactive and the child has to perform various actions to help the alien.

2) Oi Frog! By Kes Grey and Jim Field

Recommended Age: 2-5 +

Oi Frog is an amusing rhyming book, filled with lots of different creatures. Cats sit on mats, hares sit on chairs, mules sit on stools and gophers sit on sofas. But Frog does not want to sit on a log.

One of our team really enjoyed reading this with her Year 1 class. This is because they found it very funny and joined in with the rhyme from the story.

3) Press Here by Herve Tullet

Recommended Age 2-4+

Press here by Heuve Tullet

This is a really fantastic interactive book, where children are encouraged to press different coloured circles and complete other actions throughout the book. This book is ideal for reading with one child or a small group of children, if they each have their own book.

4) The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright and Jim Field

Recommended Age: 1-4 +

The Lion Inside by Jim Field and Rachel Bright

There is a small and meek mouse. He becomes tired of being ignored by other animals. So, he decides to learn how to roar. But when he approaches the lion he finds his true voice. This is a great book about self-esteem and recognising that even if you are small you can be powerful.
